Why Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy allows clients to explore challenges, conflicts and symptoms they want to understand and manage. Signs that things have gone wrong can include anxiety and depression. Life is out of control when your palms are sweating, your heart is racing, and your brain tells you that you are worthless.

Revitalize Coping Skills

As an accomplished person who has been able to manage well thus far, you have developed coping skills that have gotten you through difficult times. But sometimes problems become so overwhelming that the old coping skills just don’t do the trick. We will look at those coping skills and either add to them or help you adjust them as you dig deeper into challenging situations.

Individual therapy also provides a confidential space to look at the stories we tell ourselves about our lives–how we make sense of who we are. Your personal story may be outdated. It may need to be edited to serve you as you grow and change.

My work with individual therapy is based on identifying your strengths and learning what has worked in the past. Using narrative therapy and other techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stressed reduction. we can work together to help you write a story of your life where you once again become the hero, the one who can survive and flourish.

We will develop an individualized plan to get you unstuck, to help challenge your distorted thinking and racing thoughts. As we utilize therapeutic techniques best suited for you along with physical exercise and healthy eating, you will once again turn outward to those you love.
